Hollywood Style Bedroom

Create a glamorous and stylish bedroom fit for movie stars (and their petS). With a luxurious four-poster bed and classic wall art this room will be a great fantasy retreat. A light-studded mirror and pewter-effect fireplace complete the look.


Warm neutral colours
Use warm and neutral tones of cream and grey for the walls.


The bed
Create a glamorous hanging bed frame using 18mm MDF suspended about 30cm from the ceiling by chrome chain. Add a decorative lightweight cornice to the outside of the MDF frame. Then paint the whole frame in the same cream as the walls.


Fabrics
Drape curtains made from cream script fabric lined with satin, from each of the four corners to create a soft four-poster bed. Use the same cream script fabric to make a throw and cushions to match the curtains.


Celebrity pet
Why not indulge your pet and with a mini four-poster bed. Build an MDF box with 2"x2" uprights and a dado rail for the top frame. Again, use the script fabric for the corner drapes.


Wall feature
Upholster panels with wading and a stencil on natural linen. Try this elaborate rose design, created using five stencil sheets painted in layers to build up the final design. Use the wall colour paints and bronze and turquoise acrylics.


Fireplace
Remove the covering board and get the chimney professionally swept. Put in a second hand grate for coals or logs. Give the surround a classic aged look using a pewter effect kit, painting coats of black, grey and then silver paint.


Finishing touches
Hinge together four second-hand doors to make a screen. Paint them with the grey wall colour. Dress a mirror in Hollywood style with bayonet lights studded around the frame.
